Sad day for Zambia as Mother of Dr. Rajan Mahtani passed away

A heart breaking news shook Zambia on June 15 2016 when it was learnt that the mother of Dr. Rajan Mahtani, Mrs. Mohnibhai Lekhraj Mahtani passed away in UK. The 90-year old philanthropist was not only an inspiration for the former Finance Bank Chairman, but had also served the community through charity programs and aiding the poor. The news of her demise has resulted in widespread mourning in Zambia.

A life which revolved around serving the society was lived with honour and Zambia considers itself to be lucky to have such a lady who knew no religion, no race, no caste and always stood up for humanity. Even personalities like Deputy Governor and the First President of Zambia, Kenneth D Kaunda have expressed sorrow.

However, the show must go on for Zambia. Time and tide waits for none. There are hardships and Zambians should overcome them at one point or the other. Even though Mrs. Mohnibhai Lekhraj Mahtani is not physically present with us, she will always be there in our hearts. She has been a source of inspiration and has lead by an example for empowered of women in Zambia. Gracious as ever, she has always succeeded in guiding people towards a better way of life. No matter how many times Zambia has been struck by issues as corruption, forgery and other form of crimes, she has always come out and helped people to regain confidence and continue to work for a better cause. Her contribution may not be written in the History books, but people who had the privilege to meet her would realize the influence that she has. She was not only the mother of Dr. Rajan Mahtani, but also a mother to the whole nation. Zambia may have lost a mother, but her blessing will always be with us.
