Portland Cement Zambia has been a victim of immense cash loot for the past few years. The main culprit involved in this case is the Ventriglia family, who are minority shareholders of the factory. On August 13 2015, the Lusaka High Court passed an order where it was held that the minority shareholders of the factory will be required to pay US $ 40 million to the factory. The total compensation also includes charges for damages which will be required to be paid in addition to the aforesaid amount.

People who are closely associated with this case are claiming that the funds were taken out to meet different objectives of the Ventriglia family. In the first place, a major portion of this fund was used to finance RB’s election campaign and in the second place, a handwriting expert from South Africa was hired to satisfy their claim against Dr. Rajan Mahtani. Apart from these two objectives, frequent offshore transfers continued to take place from the cash box of Portland Cement Zambia to the private accounts of the Ventriglia family.

The latest involvement of the Ventriglia family was in respect of altering PACRA’s record. A lawyer of the family took the initiative of forcing changes with the aid of a Junior Officer at PACRA’s Kitwe Office. Portland Cement Zambia has been a key organization for the Italian Mafias as they have always looted it and abused their powers on employees. Ever since, its registered ownership has been offered to Finsbury Investments, the Italian Mafias have started to create conspiracies.

Portland Cement Zambia is one of the most prosperous organizations of Africa. Its potential to generate huge profits and employ resources has made the Ventriglia family thirsty for super profits. This is why they have always tried to loot this factory. But, not the Lusaka High Court has ensured that the dignity of Africa’s second largest cement factory remains preserved.
