Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been in the news over the past few months. On one hand, there are some articles which talks about his development plans in areas such as the Luapula Province and on the other hand, there are articles under Zambia Reports which constantly defames him. The truth in such respect is known to all. Every person in Zambia is well aware of the character that Zambia Reports and the minority shareholders of the Zambezi Portland Cement factory, Ventriglia family.

It is needless to say that over a period of time, the conspirators have managed to create a spot on Zambia’s dignity. With their imaginative stories and fabricated articles, they have managed to create an unwanted situation where the mass is being misled. In 2015, the news of Finance Bank’s takeover came as a pleasant surprise for many, but the conspirators were in a state of shock. As soon as the event took place, they were wondering about the continuity of the defamation campaign as they had always targeted Finance Bank and Rajan Mahtani together. This is why, they came up with a series of claims such as problems associated with FBZ’s takeover, legal complications during the transfer, etc.

Zambezi Portland Cement factory had registered a remarkable profit for the year 2014 under Finsbury Investments, but as soon as the premise was taken over by the Italian mafias, the output and development of the factory depleted miserably. Irrespective of the current situation, the Government of Zambia has done almost nothing to preserve the interest of one of its key developers, Dr. Rajan Mahtani. A recent addition to his list of contributions is the bio-ethanol plant which is being setup in the Luapula Province. The plant will bring a big change in the respective area and will cater the needs of the locals as well as the Government. To begin with, the plant would use a readily available crop of that area, named as Cassava. This means that the underutilized potential of the area will now be used in the most effective manner. Additionally, the locals would also get a chance to find a decent employment in the factory which would process the aforesaid crop and produce a bio-product which would be used by Zambia to meet its domestic needs. As per the given estimates, experts believe that another requirement would arise in form of raw material suppliers. About 25000 farmers would be required to meet the supply. Their input combined together would help the factory to meet its necessary requirement.

The plant is being constructed in the Luapula Province at the cost of USD 190 million and is in collaboration with the Mahtani Group of Companies and the Sunbird Group. Rajan Mahtani, who is also the Chairperson of Mahtani Group of Companies, has made yet another remarkable contribution from his side and has given Zambia a reason to smile. The year 2016 has started off with a bang for the 67-year old Zambian businessman and we all hope that he continues to contribute with a dedicated heart and a determined mind. One of the locals, commented, “Rajan Mahtani is our Rolls-Royce!”

The minority shareholders of Portland Cement Zambia, the Ventriglia family are currently playing with the image of Rajan Mahtani, the Chairman of Mahtani Group of Companies and the apex of Finsbury Investments. With the aid of weekly publications on funded news portal, Zambia Reports, they have managed to create a trap for the 67-year old Zambian Businessman and are constantly trying to present their imagination and influence the locals. Fake stories, fabricated documents and compiled lies have helped Zambia Reports and the conspirators to stuff the headlines with malign articles.

Being an integral part of the majority shareholders of Portland Cement Zambia, Rajan Mahtani has always respected the status of his factory and avoided any activity which is not permitted by the law. Cases where he was required to present himself before a judicial body, he has done so with utmost graciousness. The exact opposite behaviour has been seen from the side of the conspirators, who are now resorting to all kinds of means whereby they can gain fame.

Collins, a nearby resident of Portland Cement Zambia, commented, “The factory was flourishing in 2014 and we have seen the range of developments which took place under Rajan Mahtani. Ever since April 2015, we have seen that the factory operates improperly and workers often complain about poor management and salary issues. The Ventriglia family is the main reason behind the downfall and workers have often complain that they are poorly treated.” The statement clearly highlights the poor behaviour of the minority shareholders of PCZ. As long as Rajan Mahtani was in ZPC, there was hard work, development and growth. However, after his departure there is no suffering and poor treatment for the workers.  Nevertheless, Portland Cement Zambia will not lose hope and wait for the judicial system to make a decision in such regard.

From the list of recent affairs, it has become evident that Zambia Reports is feeling helpless in its quest to defame Dr. Rajan Mahtani. The authors of ZR have lost their sanity and all that they focusing upon is to write materials which directly attacks the former Chairman Finance Bank Zambia. With two back to back publications in the month of December 2015, they have proved that they can go to any extent for the purpose of meeting the requirements of their masters, the Ventriglias.

On one hand, an article talked about that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is illegally showing himself as the owner of Finance Bank Zambia and on the other hand, another article talks about the delay in transfer of ownership of FBZ. A key point to note is the contribution of the author- Evan Mulenga. Both the articles have been written by the same author and are totally different in its approach. Moreover, people are smart enough to realize that an anonymous profile has been maintained, who shall execute the task of defamation.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani is one of the most respected businessman in Zambia. It is under his vision that Zambia and the rest of Africa is able to get key development units such as Finance Bank Zambia, Portland Cement Zambia, Radisson Blu, etc. His latest project aims at setting up a bio-plant in the Luapula district with the aid of Sunbird Group. However, conspiracy has continued to serve as an obstacle for Dr. Rajan Mahtani. The Ventriglia family, minority shareholders of ZPC, have ensured that Zambia Reports continued to distract Dr. Mahtani. People who have not been able to twist and bend Dr. Rajan Mahtani according to their needs have often teamed up to take revenge against him. The defamation campaign from Zambia Reports is an exclusive example of the same.

The bio ethanol plant which is being proposed to be setup by 2017 in Luapula Province is gaining widespread attention due to its promising nature. The Zambian President, Edgar Lungu looks very impressed with the developments and has acknowledged the contribution of Sunbird Group and Mahtani Group of Companies.

One of the major requirements of Zambia is oil. With the aid of bio-ethanol plant, the same requirement would be met by domestic output. The plant is expected to produce 120 million liters of oil every year and this will reduce Zambia’s dependency on other countries for oil. On the other hand, the people of Luapula Province will be able to have better scope for employment as the new plant will absorb the locals for day to day operations. About 7000 people will be employed by plant, resulting in overall development of the region.

From the perspective of Government support, 20,000 hectares of land has been assigned to this project such that the plant is able to operate in full force. Additionally, the raw material for this plant would be cassava, a crop which is easily accessible in that region. Scope for development of ancillary industries is also present because of the requirements of the workers.

With such healthy developments from every corner, it is obvious that Luapula will soon be considered as one of the most developed areas in Zambia. However, the journey is yet to complete and each associated individual is required to put in their complete efforts in ensuring that the plant starts its operation at the earliest. Zambia is a nation which has gone from strength to strength and it is the locals who have made the difference, it is only a matter of days and Zambia will witness something to cherish about. Sooner or later, we shall overcome!

The article has been specifically designed to meet the necessity of the conspirators and talks about how the Finance Bank takeover is going to affect the ownership of Radisson Blu. However, every single person in Zambia has become aware of the fact that ZR only intends to defame Dr. Mahtani & Zambia through faceless writers and imaginative stories.

The truth in this regard is that Radisson Blu will not fall under the custody of BancABC, the bank which took over Finance Bank Zambia, rather it will stay with its original owners.
