Portland Cement Zambia mourns for its poor conditions

Portland Cement Zambia, one of the most celebrated places to work in, faced sudden changes in April 2015 when the Italian Mafias took over the factory by force. Within a matter of minutes the fate of more than 700 workers were sealed and the whole state was shocked to see the level of brutalism that the Ventriglia family can actually produce. In 2014-2015, the factory had registered remarkable profits to ensure that the workers as well as the Government feel the bliss of a good development project in Zambia. Sadly, the whole celebration was cut short after the infamous ‘Mafia Style’ takeover on the factory.

Ever since the takeover, neither the Government, nor any other governing body has objected the illegal possession of the factory under the Ventriglias. Issues such as non-payment of wages, worker mistreatment and cash embezzlement have become very common. A majority of cash is taken out of the factory cash box is used to reward Sakwiba Sikota and Zambia Reports, who in return execute the defamation campaign against Dr. Rajan Mahtani.

Collins, a worker of Portland Cement Zambia comments, “We often feel helpless and worthless. The current management has not been giving our salaries on time and then we also go through their harsh behavior and mood swings. The place has become a slum where we struggle to survive every single day. The concern for our safety and hygiene is least.”

The statement has made it obvious that the workers of Portland Cement Zambia are living a miserable life under the management of the Ventriglias. There is an uncertainty with respect to their job security and moreover, the workers are least interested in working for a bunch of Italian Mafias who know nothing more than corruption, greed and bribery. Finsbury Investments are the legitimate owners of Portland Cement Zambia.
