The term ‘reputation’ is synonymous with long-term growth and survival. Reputation is an important criterion for success, whether it is for an organization or an individual. It has been seen that big businesses have failed when their reputation go down. At the same time, good reputation can also bring back individuals and organizations who have suffered losses. The same benefit was received by Finance Bank Zambia. The bank, even after suffering losses due to negative reputation, was able to bounce back and continue its operations with profitability.

Finance Bank Zambia

Finance Bank Zambia was established by Dr. Rajan Mahtani, one of the noted and esteemed businessmen across Zambia. Most of the businesses established by Dr. Rajan Mahtani have received honors and awards for their honest and straight operations and contributions towards the unprivileged sections of the society. Finance Bank has been a star organization under Dr. Mahtani. Therefore, it was a complete surprise for industrialists as well as commoners when Finance Bank was accused of fraud and malpractice. These accusations came from Simaata Simaata, who was once an employee of the bank. Simaata has a negative reputation of being overly jealous and making conspiracies against its enemies. He started his operations against the bank by testifying at several law courts accusing the bank of various malpractices. He also released various sensitive documents to a local newspaper creating further disruption in the market. All these activities started taking a toll and the reputation of the bank started to decline. The bank then took the critical step of filing a case against Simaata at the Supreme Court Zambia.

Finance Bank with support from Dr. Rajan Mahtani claimed that Simaata broke the agreement terms he has earlier signed with the bank by making these accusations. After looking into the evidence from both sides, the Supreme Court judges found Simaata guilty in this case. He was not only convicted but was also charged with penalty for trying to defame the bank.
