Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, Chairman of Finance Bank, has been arrested on account of an offense which was ‘permanently closed’ in 2012. According to reliable sources, it has been seen that the assistant of Presidential Political affairs, Kaizer Zulu was heavily paid by the Ventriglia family to ensure that this arrest took place under any given circumstances.

The Threat

The Ventriglia family faced a threat from Dr. Rajan Mahtani in respect of illegal acquisition of the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory. In April 2015, the Ventriglia family had hired policemen from Lusaka and dressed them up as bandits to take over the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory in the early hours of the day. The action was purely based on a ‘Mafia Style’ loot.

The Encounter

Witnessing the danger of facing legal consequences, the Ventriglia family decided to remove Dr. Mahtani by involving him in some kind of legal actions which resulted in his arrest.

Before getting arrested, Dr. Mahtani had vacated his seat and appointed William Boli Nyirenda as the new Chairman of the FBZ PLC. There was no resistance or any sign of fear on the face of Dr. Rajan Mahtani at the time of arrest. He was calm and followed the order of the officials with grace.
